What to Write in a Thinking of You Card - Thinking of You Messages

Thinking of You: Creating a Greeting Card Message for Any Occasion

Everyone likes to be thought of. Sometimes maintaining a thoughtful connection with a loved one, friend, or acquaintance can be hard. It takes time, money, and effort. But then again, sometimes it’s as simple as writing a quick card.

How to Create the Perfect Card - Examples

Here we hope to offer some quick and easy messages for a variety of occasions and people. Including no reason at all.

Suffering from an Illness or Recovering from a Surgery

The key to thinking of you messages in this scenario is tact. You may be stressed and overwhelmed by your friend’s situation, but the purpose of your message should be nothing more than kindness and support. Just as frequently, your friend may not wish to acknowledge or discuss their situation. It is important to remain present but still give them the space they desire.

  • (Recovering from a surgery) Please know that you are in my thoughts. I am so happy to hear that you are being cared for by the best, and I hope that you get as much rest and attention as you deserve (or want for that matter!)
  • Best wishes as you rest up and get strong again. I know it can be a hard journey, but if anyone is up to the challenge it’s you.
  • Thinking of you. Never hesitate to reach out if you need a helping hand, an open ear, or even just a smile. Please know that I would be happy to be there for you, and I am only happy to support you in any way I can during this challenging time.
  • (During an illness/sickness) I’m sorry to know that someone as kind, caring, and thoughtful as you is undergoing such a difficult time. I’ll try and return all of the good things you have always given to me during this particular challenge.
  • I know that you must be feeling a whole mix of things as you face this difficult time. Sorry to add to the mix, but I hope this card makes you feel supported, hopeful, and loved. Thinking of you as always!

Messages for a Difficult Time

Divorce, death, money troubles-No one should face the struggles of life alone. A thoughtful card is all that it takes sometimes to brighten up someone’s day and make things just a little easier to bear.

  • (Difficult times) You are such a strong and amazing person. That being said, even the toughest person has a rough day every now and then. I hope you are receiving all the support you need during this difficult time, and I know you will find your way out if it.
  • My deepest sympathies during this complicated and demanding time. Please know that you are not alone and you never have to be.
  • (Following a death) I am so sorry for your loss. I hope you are able to reflect on the happy times and wonderful memories that you shared in even the most difficult moments. I can’t imagine what you must be feeling, but I can imagine how proud and joyful the relationship was that you shared.
  • You and your family are in my thoughts. I know it may not be much, but I cannot help but share in your grief when I see how you have been affected. I hope that you are able to come to the place of peace and contentment that you so very much deserve.

Romantic Messages

It’s not the flowers and chocolate that makes your significant other happy-it’s the simple act of being thought of. A thoughtfully written message is one of the best, most romantic gestures that you can give or receive.

  • (For a boyfriend/husband) I love so many things about you. The way you make me laugh. The way I can always depend on you to be there for me. Every girl deserves a man like you. Too bad there’s only one! Well, too bad for everyone else.
  • (For a girlfriend/wife) No one makes my day brighter than you. No one makes my nights feel less alone. I can go anywhere with you and be happy. Today is just another day with the most beautiful woman I know, and I couldn’t be happier.
  • (For either) I feel so lucky to be with someone as absolutely, amazingly, wonderfully, fantastically, superbly perfect as you. I just don’t have the words to describe it.
  • I thought you deserved to know that I am so happy to have someone like you in my life. You make me feel loved and supported all the time, and I can only hope that you feel the respect and desire that I feel for you.
  • Every moment spent with you is a moment I cherish. Even if it’s just a card for now, I’ll take what I can get.

Messages Just Because!

Sometimes you want to reach out for no reason at all, but this can be the most challenging time to think of something to say. Rest assured, that whatever the message, it’s the thought that counts, and the effort is well worth the time.

  • (Funny/lighthearted) Hey! I just wanted you to know that I was thinking of you. And, no, this has nothing to do with the twenty that I’m pretty sure you still owe me.
  • Happy birthday! Wait, what do you mean it’s not your birthday? Well this is awkward. Happy, um,…Day! Yeah, just have a happy day!
  • Thinking of you! Well probably not right now honestly. I was thinking of you when I wrote this. Now, I’m probably doing laundry or something. I can’t think of you all the time, you know!
  • (For a friend) You are kind, funny, and an all around great person. And you deserve to know it. I’m so happy that you are in my life. Thanks for all you do!
  • Thinking of you! Anytime I reflect on your friendship I smile and my day gets instantly better. So this card is just as much for me as it is for you.
  • (For a parent) I may no longer live at home, but I carry you with me wherever I go. Thinking of you and how much you mean to me.
  • (For a kid/child) You are my proudest accomplishment. I hope you are happy, fulfilled, and loving the life you live.
  • Thinking of you. And reminding you to make good choices, but that should be implied by this point. Have a wonderful day!
