What To Write in a Job Well Done Card - Job Well Done Messages

Job Well Done Card Messages – What to write in a Job Well Done message

A Job Well Done message can be for a colleague, employee, boss, family member, friend or even a business contact. It isn’t just for instances that you are directly involved in. Some of the nicest messages come from bystanders who observe the work done and compliment it, as it is not forced and can come across far more genuine and meaningful. These messages should reflect appreciation and recognition.

How to Create the Perfect Card - Examples

Job Well Done message examples for colleagues:

Whilst most places will have a reward and recognition or award system, sending an adhoc Job Well Done message to a colleague when they tackle a big job, do something no one else wants, take the initiative, go above and beyond, or even just perform consistently, can remind them they are appreciated and valued.

If they have just come back from leave, remind them how happy you are to have them back and what an important part of the team they are. If they go for a promotion, show them your support, and how much they contribute and deserve the job, but how much you’ll miss them if they get it.

  • “Thank you for your consistency, no one knows how to make this place work as seamlessly as you do every day.”
  • “We’d be lost without you, but will cope for a few weeks whilst you go take a well-deserved break.”
  • “The photocopier jams more. The coffee machine clogs more. The lift gets stuck more. We smile less. When you aren’t here.”
  • “Really hope you get that promotion, but that you clone yourself so we still have a you two.”

Job Well Done message examples for bosses:

Usually it is the boss who is expected to give praise to their employees, but why not flip it around and show them how much you enjoy working with them and learning from them.

  • “Whilst your coffee order may not have rubbed off on me, your leadership and stress management styles have.”
  • “Without you this place wouldn’t exist, and we don’t tell you how much we appreciate that and you enough.”
  • “You always do great work, but your best was hiring me.”
  • “Thanks for signing off on my pay each week. Oh and the mentoring. And the handling very difficult customers that we palm off onto you when we can’t hack it. Okay and for being a decent boss.”

Job Well Done message examples for family:

Family play many roles in our lives. Parents take on the job of making sure their kids grow up into proper people. Kids take on the job of making sure their parents cop a dose of what they did to their own parents. Siblings take on the job of keeping each other on their competitive toes. Sometimes the most routine thing is the least appreciated but will cause the biggest pain if missed.

  • “Well done on your chores. I know we give you pocket money, but I’m really proud of you doing them without having to be reminded.”
  • “Mum, Dad, just want to say thanks for everything whilst we grew up. I know I wasn’t the best kid, and you had to sacrifice a lot, but you guys did an amazing job. I’m a contributing member of society, I know right from wrong. I have a moral compass. I am literate. I am content. And I’m happy for having such amazing parents.”
  • “Congrats on the grades. You studied really hard and look how well that paid off.”
  • “Heard about the promotion, congrats. You’ve been busting your hump for ages, and it finally worked out for you. Well done mate.”

Job Well Done message examples for business contacts:

Everyone deserves to be recognized for good work. Even if it is someone you have never met before just doing their job, sometimes just them being professional or having a friendly manner can be refreshing, and is a lovely gesture to recognize this. Unfortunately, you don’t get it every interaction, so say so. If you can get the person’s name, even better. If not, address it to the Manager and include a description of the person, date and time, and hopefully they know who it is and will pass on the personal thanks.

  • “Thank you for the fantastic customer service recently. Your friendly smile and tone made a really average day a lot better. Wish there were more people like you.”
  • “Really appreciated your patience with me and all my questions. So happy to be one of your customers.”
  • “To the Manager of the branch, your receptionist was really fantastic the other day. Whilst I was waiting she made me a coffee, got me magazines and was really friendly. I didn’t feel like I was imposing or just a number in your office whilst there, which is a refreshing change.”
